29 OCTOBER 2012, THE NETHERLANDS – After a building time of two weeks my first iPad app hit the Apple App Store. This application that I build is especially written for flight crew flying on a Pilatus PC-12/45, the largest single engine turbine prop plane in the world.
This is another step towards a paperless cockpit, this was the missing piece. I already use EFB’s and charting apps for flight. To be really redundant I use always two iPads in the cockpit. I wrote this piece of software because it simply didn’t existed. The Airropad Checklist app comes also in handy during night time flights. No longer disturbing lights on the flight deck just to read the mandatory checklist.
I also added a few features to make a pilot’s life easier. A top of descent, rate of decent, cruise and a bunch of other calculators. In the future I will expand these calculators with new additional calculators. I even thinking about to build a solo app with these features.
Next project is an checklist app for our planes of the Aero Club Twente. I picked up my old profession and really enjoy this ride. I tastes like more….so more to come.
